FAQs

Colour Representation:
The photos have been taken to represent their true colours as accurately as possible. However, all phone and computer screens display colour a little differently. Also, please note that due to the nature of hand dyeing yarn, each skein will have some variation from those photographed despite the same recipe being followed each time. This uniqueness is part of the charm of hand dyed yarn, but if the yarn you receive is not to your liking, please check the returns section on the website and contact me at littleacornyarn@gmail.com

Where do you source your yarn?
The yarn bases I currently have in stock are sourced from Wild Earth Yarns, based in Christchurch. These bases are milled from 100% New Zealand merino wool (from South Island sheep farms) and are super lush and squishy. Supporting another local small business is an added bonus.
I have plans to offer more bases, including single ply, suri alpaca, mohair, aran weight, and possibly others in future updates. As a fledgeling business, it’s just taking a minute to get all the ducks in a row.

How should I care for my yarn?
Although superwash yarns can be machine washed, it is always recommended to hand wash knitted/crochet items in cold water with a wool detergent. If you decide to machine wash, be sure to use the gentle/wool cycle on you machine, along with wool wash, and always dry flat in the shade. This will ensure that the special items you have worked so tirelessly on will last for years.

All natural bases must be hand washed, as they have not been treated and will likely felt in the washing machine.

While I thoroughly rinse all yarn with wool wash before they are dried and shipped to you, there is always a small chance of colour bleeding in the first few washes, especially with overdyed colours. So be sure to wash garments separately, just in case.

When will my parcel arrive?
Parcels are shipped with a courier service and have tracking numbers assigned. Within Aotearoa, items should be delivered within 1-2 working days depending on location.

What are your return, shipping, and exchange policies?
If there is any problem with your order, please do not hesitate to get in touch by email (littleacornyarn@gmail.com).

If you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, I have a return policy of 30 days. If more than 30 days has lapsed since purchase then unfortunately I cannot offer a refund or exchange. In order to return an item, it must be in unused perfect condition as when purchased and be in the original packaging (so any yarn that has been caked or wound is not elegible for return). I am unable to refund the original shipping costs, and the buyer will also be responsible for return shipping costs. Once item has been received and inspected, if approved, a refund will be issued in the same method has it was purchased. Please think carefully about your purchase before you make it.

If you would ever like further information about any item please feel free to contact me – I will be happy to provide any additional information that may make your purchase decision easier.

If an item you receive is faulty then I will gladly refund or exhange the item. Please contact me at littleacornyarn@gmail.com before returning any items so that we can work together to find the best solution for both parties. For further return details (processes etc.) please get in touch.

Note: custom orders, sale or discounted items are a final sale and will not be refunded or exchanged.

Do you offer wholesale orders?
Not at this stage, but please email me if you would like to discuss this option.

Do you offer yarn support?
One of my favourite aspects of the fibre community is how we all work together to support each other. If you are interested in my yarn and would like to discuss yarn support for an upcoming design, please email me at, littleacornyarn@gmail.com.
